Hello my healthy readers!!!!!!
I am so happy to be writing to you! This is my first newsletter since I gave birth to our daughter Norah Elizabeth, she was born on Dec 10, 2011 and weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs 9 oz! She is doing great, growing and amazing me everyday! Here''s a picture of her from about a month ago (she''s 4 1/2 months now, she was about 3 months old in the picture), I had to share this picture, my husband Bob, is a photographer and this "photo shoot" is what I came home to after a morning of grocery shopping, love it!!!! (She''ll be teaching my cooking classes soon)

I''m also writing you to tell you about a program I am co-teaching starting in 2 weeks, it''s called the 40 Day Life Makeover and it is AWESOME!!! I am limiting my classes and clients right now to spend time with Norah, but I teach this class with 2 other amazing women and I wouldn''t miss it for the world, plus with me out of the house Norah gets fun time with Daddy! 40 Days to a Life Makeover!


2012 date...starts May 8.
Tuesdays, 6 to 8 pm. (opening and closing nights could go later)

...You have nothing to gain but your whole life.

Many of us are at the point where we are ready to commit to better self-care, personal awakening, empowerment and peace of mind. Our goal might be to have a stronger, pain-free body, improved nutritional practices, or a spiritually deeper experience of life. We have the resources within us to attain these goals, but it''s tough to do by ourselves, without knowledgeable support and guidance.

Components of the program:
-Unlimited participation in all yoga classes on core schedule
-7 Tuesday nights at from 6 to 8 pm we will meet and do some yoga together (Sheila will lead the practice) and practice meditation as a group. Sheila, Deborah and Renee will co facilitate an opportunity for all to share personal experiences with the program and discuss which issues we will be "bringing into awareness" during the up coming week.
Weekly meditation instruction and practice.
Weekly nutritional consultation and recipes by Renee Hastings for incorporating healthy eating into your every day life.
-A 3 day cleanse on week 4, with 3 menu choices. (participation will be optional.)
-Book, home practice DVD, journal instruction and support, and on line support as well.

We appreciate the fact that a daily commitment to showing up at Heartsong may not be logistically possible for everyone. To that end, we have modified the program to include an at-home class on DVD and email connection for support. So you never need to miss a day!



Reading food labels can be more than confusing, it can make your HEAD SPIN! So I''m going to make it really easy and break it down for you so the next time you hit the grocery store you can out smart those savvy marketing tricks!

Organic: 100% organic means the product is free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics and hormones.


This oatmeal was and is still my go to breakfast after giving birth to Norah. I craved oatmeal for weeks (and now months) after having her, it makes sense since oatmeal is a good source of healthy carbs and protein, but also a good source of iron, which is so important after giving birth to help replenish blood loss. If you have a young baby in your life and can put the baby down (and keep him or her occupied) for 15 min you can make and EAT this meal! If you don''t have kids or they are all grown up, make this recipe anyway, you''re body will thank you!

Ingredients: (serves one)
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup water
handful of raisins
sprinkle of cinnamon
handful of almonds
1 TBS ground flax seed meal
1 tsp raw sugar or other natural sweetener (optional)
1 tsp coconut oil
1/4 cup cow''s, almond, rice or coconut milk (optional)

Bring water to a boil, add oats, raisins and cinnamon. Cook according to package directions (usually 7-10 min). Remove from heat stir in almonds, flax seed meal, sugar, coconut oil. Transfer to a bowl and drizzle with milk of choice, delicious! Not your average oatmeal I promise!!!!!!!
